We need folks to be on the lookout for suspicious activity along the
trail, and if you see anyone out there with loppers or a saw. If you
do, call 911 to report it and call MPRB at 612-230-4900. Take a picture
if you are able. Please exercise caution – a person who deliberately
kills 28 trees is likely to suffer from some kind of mental illness,
violent tendencies or both.
A serial killer (of trees) is on the loose in Longfellow. The Winchell Trail, which runs along the bluff below West River Parkway was the grizzly scene of a mass tree murder in recent days. The damage was done below the Dowling School. A trail watch group is being organized now to catch this killer and protect the innocent.
