The old Schmitt Music Bldg
The piece is Ravel’s “Gaspard de la Nuit.” Between Nicollet & Marquette on 10th St.
I never thought this was a real piece. Sure enough: holy crap.
Wow! Really? My friend Cameron used to work there back in the day. I asked him if Schmitt ever had an event where they set up a piano in each parking stall and all the musicians played that piece together. We both laughed, speculating it was not a real piece and could not be played.
Makes me think someone should coordinate that promotion, no?
UPDATE: Here’s the story of the Schmitt building mural.
