I’m guessing most small business owners think that anyone who ‘likes’ their page on Facebook is seeing every one of their status updates. Only 20% are, according to this article, Facebook’s tempting ‘Promote’ button for business. Facebook now allows you to pay to get your post in front of more of your “likers”.

It’s a great new revenue generating move by Facebook, one that big businesses will surely budget for. However, I wonder if the small business owners will bite? They could go back to email marketing – something they know they can send to all of their subscribers where they can track opens. Depending on their list sizes, that could cost money as well. It will be interesting to see the cost-analysis articles on this subject as new data on the subject comes in.

Funny. I was just thinking about if I only saw 20% of the Tumblr posts from all the Tumblrs I follow. Kind of comparing apples to oranges, but … that would kinda suck.
