Chris Wallace from ‘Fox News Sunday’ seems stumped in this interview with Wisconsin governor Scott Walker today. He doesn’t get why Walker won’t budge when the union has agreed to everything in his bill except the collective bargaining part:
WALKER: “For us, this is about balancing the budget. We’ve got a $3.6 billion budget deficit – we’re broke. Just like nearly every other state in the country is broke. It’s about time somebody stood up and told the truth and the only way for us to balance the budget, not only at the state level, but at the local level, is to make sure we give those local governments the tools they need to balance the budget and that’s what we’re proposing.”
WALLACE: “Yeah, but I don’t understand. If it’s a money issue and balancing the budget and they are willing to concede on the money issues why isn’t that enough? Why do you also need to take back some of their collective bargaining rights.”
WALKER: “Well, they aren’t.”
Wallace brings it up again later and pretty much gets the same response. Seems like Walker is digging in and even FOX news can’t understand why. Good grief. What a pickle this is.
