Yikes, Joel Kramer is beating the bushes for funding original journalism at MinnPost and then along comes BringMeTheNews and gets a $1 million investment for a news aggregating site centered on Minnesota.

Public Journalism Network

Reminder: The media industry’s revenue problems do not equate to any crisis within journalism itself. Also, aggregation is totally 2008, so get over yourselves BringMeTheNews.

My $.02:

Well, let’s be sure to recognize that “investment” in a non-profit vs "investment" in a for-profit is very different. You’ve got to “beat the bushes” a lot differently – hell, it’s even totally different bushes! So, that statement is kind of like comparing apples to cement.

I was really glad to see BringMeThe News get the investment. They do good work, and they link often to our good work. (Btw, I work at MinnPost.)

This is the best quote from the same Public Journalism Network post by Leonard Witt:

“Ladies and Gentlemen get your engines started there is investment money out there.”

Amen to that!
