And then I want to reply back. I can not do this through Tumblr (right?), so I try to follow them on Twitter and hope they follow me back so I can send them a Direct Message.<\/p>\n<p>That&rsquo;s <strike>rediculous<\/strike> ridiculous.<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;ve tried using the ASK feature, but then sometimes the person PUBLISHES my question. That&rsquo;s okay sometimes, but not okay other times.<\/p>\n<p>Am I missing something? How can I communicate with Tumblr friends?<\/p>\n<p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong> Here are some of the suggestions and some of my reactions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This irony of this post is maddening: People are making suggestions and I can&rsquo;t reply to them publicly or privately! Blerg. (Yes, swirlspice, you got me!)<\/li>\n<li>(via <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/antderosa\/status\/114344522128965632\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>) <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/soupsoup.tumblr.com\" rel=\"noopener\">soupsoup<\/a> suggests I try the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/missinge.infraware.ca\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Missing &ldquo;e&rdquo;,<\/a> the unofficial browser extension for Tumblr. It allows you to reply to replies. I will try this. However, the extension is not endorsed by Tumblr, so I am concerned it may be rendered unusable in the future. But, I&rsquo;ll install it and kick the tires.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"There was once a really funny joke here!\" href=\"http:\/\/wearaboot.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wearaboot<\/a> and <a title=\"Seemed like a good idea...\" href=\"http:\/\/cutlerish.tumblr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cutlerish<\/a> say use the Tumblr ASK feature and make it clear I want the correspondence to be PRIVATE. I&rsquo;ve tried that before, and my correspondence ends up getting published. Honestly, I don&rsquo;t think it&rsquo;s malicious. Instead, I think the recipient of my question wants to answer, but doesn&rsquo;t know how! So they publish their answer so I can read it. Makes sense to me, but oy!<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Slapdash\" href=\"http:\/\/slapdash.erikostrom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">erikostrom<\/a> suggests using <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/disqus.com\" rel=\"noopener\">DISQUS<\/a> comments. I like DISQUS, but it just feels so disconnected from Tumblr.
