The Pioneer Press says I was given &ldquo;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twincities.com\/localnews\/ci_21391226\/st-paul-those-are-actually-special-ops-training\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advanced warning<\/a>&rdquo; about helicopters training in Minneapolis so I should have known what was going on when I Instagram&rsquo;d a photo of 4 black-hawk helicopters flying over my house.<\/p>\n<p>A &ldquo;WARNING&rdquo;? Really? If you click that link, it&rsquo;s a 6 paragraph (8 sentence) story about the upcoming training. No, &ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t call the police, but that doesn&rsquo;t mean I knew what was going on, despite being a complete idiot!&rdquo; Oh, hell.<\/p>\n<p>Are they trying to guilt me into reading their news? I&rsquo;m not really sure why they would write it like that? Was it just <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bigboxcar\/status\/240500348169641985\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a poor choice of words<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>This helicopter training story does not warrant &ldquo;Were you born under a rock?&rdquo; ridicule, and I get it that it WAS reported by major news entities in the Twin Cities Metro. I missed the memo, obviously. No big deal. I actually learned about the event on <a href=\"http:\/\/instagram.com\/p\/O2hppTmdRy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kjtten\/status\/240254041131712512\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a>, and I was just fine with that. Welcome to 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Kudos to the Pioneer Press for using Storify to <a href=\"http:\/\/storify.com\/PioneerPress\/black-helicopters-surprise-entertain-minnesotans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collect and present reactions<\/a> from social media about the helicopters. But the commentary brings up their impending irrelevancy if shaming people for not reading their news article is their editorial stance.<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;m overreacting, of course &ndash; thanks for reading. Oh, hell.<\/p>\n<p><em>Disclaimer: I was in the Journalism industry for 15 years.
